Try this easy recipe on how to make Filipino style longanisa. Less expensive, no preservative and for sure it is freshly made. Use either ground chicken or beef or pork. Roll it or make it into a patty like this one below.
1 lb. ground meat desired
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1/3 teaspoon ground brown pepper
1-2 tablespoon brown sugar
1/3 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon corn starch
2 tablespoon water
1 tablespoon cooking oil
How to Prepare:
Using a deep bowl mix ground meat, garlic, sugar, salt, vinegar, soy sauce and corn starch.
You can always add more garlic or any of the above ingredients. It all depends on your taste bud.
Mix thoroughly and refrigerate for an hour for the meat to absorb the marinade.
Spoon a tablespoon and roll it into a ball. Arrange in a wax paper and press to flatten.
Refrigerate for an hour or so before cooking.
*When cooking mix water with the cooking oil, place the longanisa and simmer in medium low heat. That will allow the meat to cook evenly.*
